Gang groups spread to Midtown and lower Manhattan, following a peaceful protest over the death of George Floyd that took place across the city earlier in the day.
At the same time, an NYPD officer was viciously attacked by several men in the Bronx tonight (Monday) as onlookers recording the struggle instigated the suspects. (Video below)
According to footage posted on Twitter by Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas, another officer was injured on Madison Avenue (2nd Video Below)
Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Mayor de Blasio tweeted:
“Just left the Bronx. Real problems on Fordham Road, also Burnside Avenue… Spoke with Councilman Fernando Cabrera about immediate steps to address the situation. Also spoke to Commissioner Shea + Chief Pichardo, who are sending additional help.”
