Several gunshots were fired from a drive-by vehicle at the US embassy at the Turkish capital, Ankara, today Monday around 5 am (02:00 GMT), hitting a window in a security cabin causing no casualties.
The attack coincided with a deepening row between Ankara and Washington over the Trial of Pastor Brunson and the U.S – Turkish Clash after Erdogan’s threats against the U.S.
The report said the embassy was set to be closed this week for Eid al-Adha festival.
Police were searching for the assailants, who fled in a white car after the attack, CNN Turk said. Four or five gunshots were heard, it said.
The US embassy in Ankara and the consulate in Istanbul have been the targets of attacks and have faced numerous security threats in the past.
