After prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed to merge the three counts of Bill Cosby’s conviction into one for sentencing purposes, now he faces a maximum of 10 years, instead of 30 years in prison…
The sentence is expected to come on today (Tuesday), after Judge Steven T. O’Neill decides whether Cosby should be classified a “sexually violent predator.”
Prosecutors asked yesterday a judge to sentence Cosby, five to ten years in prison for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, saying that “he had shown “no remorse for his actions.”
District Attorney Kevin Steele said about Bill Cosby: “This is about a person who put himself in a situation of being a mentor, but we know he had other intentions just from the beginning. We know that from the statements he made. What he saw in Andrea the first time he laid eyes on her. What his plan was. To get to the point they were going to get to. And that didn’t involve consent.”
On the other hand however, Joseph P. Green, Cosby’s defense attorney, asked for a of house arrest sentence, citing Cosby’s blindness and his “advanced age”, adding that: “Mr. Cosby is not dangerous… Eighty-one-year-old blind men who are not self-sufficient are not a danger, unless perhaps to themselves.”
